Spring Cleaning Tip! A few drops of lavender essential oil in a diffuser in the bedroom can be really helpful. The science backs it up—research[1] has shown that subjects exposed to lavender aromatherapy become more relaxed and experienced increased drowsiness. You can even try adding a couple of drops to the soles of your feet before bed!

Spring Cleaning Tip! Let lemon and salt work their magic. Sprinkle coarse kosher salt on a cutting board or butcher block, then using a halved lemon with the cut side down, scrub the salt against the wood. Scrape away any gunk, then rinse. If you have a garbage disposal, grind up the used lemon half to clean and refresh the disposal.[2] You can also use salt and lemon juice to scrub dirty cookware or stained coffee mugs.

Spring Cleaning Tip! Purify the air with houseplants. No less an authority than NASA[3] has done research on the air-purifying benefits of plants. Among those that may help improve indoor air quality: Boston Ferns, Peace Lilies, Dragon Trees, Spider Plants, and Bamboo Palm.
