Proud to be Cruelty Free

Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent with a Pile of Clothes

For more than 30 years, Seventh Generation has been committed to animal rights and we’ve been working to build a future free of animal cruelty.

We speak loudest through our actions: We won't use chemicals of concern, we won't test on animals, and we disclose ingredients right on our packaging. We're committed to a toxin-free and a cruelty-free future.

Since our company's founding in 1988, we have never, ever, conducted or commissioned any animal testing of our products or their ingredients. In fact, we design our products to be safe for people, their homes, their pets, and the environment, and we don't believe any animal should be harmed in the process of making the products you use to create a clean and healthy home. It's just who we are.

There are alternative methods of assessing product safety that don't require inhumane animal testing. We use a combination of laboratory experiments without animals or animal materials, clinical dermatology studies with human volunteers, and globally recognized calculation models.

In 1999, we were pleased to join the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) Leaping Bunny program, the cruelty-free standard that provides the best assurance that no animal testing is used in any phase of product development by the company or on its behalf. Our cleaning and personal care products proudly feature the international Leaping Bunny logo to increase consumer awareness of our choice to produce products without any animal testing, ever. The Leaping Bunny Program is an independent, third party auditor with whom we register every year.
