About the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge

Our Democracy Is Polluted, Let's Clean It Up!

It’s time to get fossil fuel money out of our elections.

Fossil fuels endanger our health, our planet, and even our democracy. Every election, oil, gas, and coal companies pour money into elections across the country, preventing crucial climate action. They block the expansion of solar power, persuade lawmakers to let them drill near schools and hospitals, and fight against efforts to clean our air. Big Oil and their allies have outspent clean energy groups in recent years 27:1 to block climate policies. We’ve had enough. The good news is that we have a solution to stop this corruption, and it’s already unfolding.

In recent years, thousands of candidates and elected officials have taken the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge, won their races, and passed bold and historic climate laws across the nation. But more is needed.

We must rapidly transition away from fossil fuels by the end of the decade. Leaders elected in the upcoming U.S. election in November will determine whether we can meet the climate goals set by scientists across the country and the globe. At Seventh Generation, we partnered with the No Fossil Fuel Money Coalition and other grassroots partners to create an online platform for voters to see who on their ballot has rejected Big Oil’s money and take collective action.

Check out the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge website now and take action!

With two easy steps and just a few clicks, you can make a big difference:

  • Step 1: Enter your zip code and see who is taking fossil fuel money on your ballot.
  • Step 2: Take action. Send your candidates a message to sign the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge and thank those who have already rejected fossil fuel money.

By bringing to light the enormous amount of fossil fuel money flowing into elections, we can make smart decisions at the ballot box and elect strong climate leaders. Together, we can put collective pressure on those wanting to represent us in 2024 to be accountable to voters and the planet, not the oil, gas, and coal companies.

Thank you for joining us in working toward a safer climate and healthier future for our families and our communities everywhere.

Take action today to get fossil fuel money out of politics.
