Where do you call home?

Portland, ME

What tip do you have in the category of 'Green Cleaning'?

White vinegar is useful for so many things - we use it to clean everything in our house. Baking soda is another amazing product and very cost-effective. There's some satisfaction in using a little elbow grease and admiring a job well done, knowing that the air in our house isn't filled with chemicals.

What shade of green are you?

Dark Green

Tell us about yourself:

Just a mom of two, doing my best to incorporate green living practices into our everyday lives. Over the past ten years my husband and I have transitioned traditional products and practices out of our household and replaced them with safer alternatives. We no longer use commercial cleaners, opting for white vinegar and water instead, and the only detergents we use are biodegradable and contain no dyes or perfumes. We eat organic and/or locally-produced food as much as possible, avoid processed foods in favor of whole and raw, and tend our own garden. I breastfeed and use cloth diapers. It's very important to us to make our home as healthful as possible for our family and hopefully will pass these practices on to our children so they can make a difference in the world and their own lives.
